Jang Do Yeon stresses humility in acceptance speech amid Park Na Rae controversy

As broadcaster Park Na Rae has halted her activities amid allegations of manager abuse and illegal medical treatment involving the so-called "Injection Aunt," her close friend Jang Do Yeon drew attention with remarks emphasizing humility.

On December29th KST, Jang Do Yeon received the Entertainer of the Year Award at the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards, where she shared a pointed reflection, saying, “I’ve been reading ‘Records of the Three Kingdoms’ these days, and if you’re not humble, everyone ends up dying.”

She continued, “To survive to the very end in this frightening entertainment industry, I will live humbly, just as my father has always told me.”

Jang Do Yeon is widely known as one of Park Na Rae’s closest friends in the entertainment industry. The two endured their struggling years together, and along with Shin Gi Ru and Heo Anna, had been preparing a new MBC variety program titled 'Nado Shinna'. However, the project effectively fell through following Park Na Rae’s sudden controversies involving alleged abuse of power and illegal medical treatment.

Currently serving as a main MC on flagship MBC variety programs such as 'Adventure by Accident 4' and 'Radio Star', Jang Do Yeon became a nominee for the Grand Prize this year for the first time while also receiving the Entertainer of the Year Award.

She humbly reflected, “I’m grateful that MBC has given me awards several times, but not once did I think, ‘I deserve this.’ Of all days, today feels like the most undeserved,” adding with a laugh, “When Yoo Se Yoon mentioned me as a Grand Prize candidate at the photo zone, I thought it was a new kind of teasing. They’re not going to give it to me anyway, and I wouldn’t take it either. That would make no sense.”

Jang Do Yeon also spoke candidly about her programs, saying, “‘Adventure by Accident’ was filmed with so much hard work, yet I just sit there talking while looking at my notes. And with ‘Radio Star,’ I experience every week how precious and coveted that position is, but I always feel like I’m not fully living up to it.”

She concluded, “In the new year, I’ll try a little harder. I believe this is all about luck, but I’ll keep running until that luck reaches me. I hope everyone stays safe and unharmed in the new year.”

Yoo Se Yoon expressed his full support, saying, “I think she’s more than qualified. Honestly, I didn’t even know Do Yeon was a candidate, but I suddenly felt like it was her turn.” When asked about a potential Grand Prize pledge, Jang Do Yeon jokingly promised, “If I win the Grand Prize, I’ll work for MBC for free. My agency will be shocked, but I’ll cover all expenses myself, and MBC will be no-pay,” drawing laughter from the audience.
