'Teach You a Lesson' villain actor Lee Seung Gyu donates to school violence victims

Lee Seung Gyu appeared in the first episode of the Netflix series 'Teach You a Lesson' (written by Lee Nam Gyu, Kim Da Hee, and Moon Jong Ho; directed by Hong Jong Chan). He portrayed Ryu Jun Hyung, a school bully and the son of presidential hopeful lawmaker Ryu Gwang Pil, who uses his influence and power to dominate his school through violence.
The rookie actor made a strong impression with his performance, convincingly portraying both a ruthless villain and a character's dramatic downfall. His portrayal was so memorable that viewers nicknamed him "a handsome piece of trash" online.
After the series, Lee Seung Gyu put its message into action in real life. He donated to the BTF Blue Tree Foundation, an organization that supports victims of school violence and works to prevent bullying.
The BTF Blue Tree Foundation is a South Korean non-profit youth organization specializing in school violence prevention. It was founded by Chairman Kim Jong Ki, who lost his child to school violence. The foundation provides anti-bullying education programs and support services for victims and their families.
"I want to turn the pain I encountered through acting into real-world support," Lee said. "Even after the drama ends, I won't forget."
'Teach You a Lesson' is set in a fictional world where a government agency called the Bureau for the Protection of Teachers' Rights has been established. The series follows efforts to help victims within the education system and is based on the popular webtoon of the same name.
The show has been receiving a strong response worldwide. According to Netflix Tudum's latest rankings for June 8–14, Teach You a Lesson ranked No. 1 on the Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart, recording 21.1 million views during the week.
The series also reached No. 1 in 46 countries and territories, including South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. It entered the Top 10 in 91 countries and territories, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
