Park Min Young reveals she drank only water to lose weight again for her role in 'Siren's Kiss'

Actress Park Min Young shared that she went on an extreme diet, drinking only water, to prepare for her role in the upcoming drama 'Siren's Kiss.'

On February 23, a production presentation for tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Siren's Kiss' (written by Lee Young and directed by Kim Cheol Kyu) was held via TVING and Naver TV. Park Min Young, Wi Ha Joon, Kim Jung Hyun, and producer Kim Cheol Kyu attended the event.

Park Min Young, who plays Han Seol Ah, a chief auctioneer at Royal Auction, drew attention by revealing that she underwent a rigorous diet for the role.

Park Min Young explained, “The character Han Seol Ah doesn’t eat in the drama. Many tragic events are happening around her, so she doesn’t eat and at home only drinks water and alcohol.”

She continued, “She is someone who feels extremely lonely when alone and suffers from panic disorder. I felt like I shouldn’t gain weight for the role. While filming this project, I fasted and drank three liters of water a day,” surprising those in attendance.

She added, “I’ve now returned to my usual self. I thought keeping myself in a darker state suited the character well. I really transformed into someone dark,” candidly sharing the challenges she faced.

Previously, Park Min Young also made headlines for her dramatic weight loss in the 2024 drama 'Marry My Husband,' where she played a character battling cancer and reduced her weight to 37 kgs (approx. 81.4 lbs). At the time, she said, “I ate very little, and during filming I survived only on ion drinks. The production team was very considerate. They filmed those scenes first, including the death scene, and then gave me about two weeks to gain back 5 kgs (approx. 11lbs).”

Meanwhile, 'Siren's Kiss' tells the story of a woman suspected of insurance fraud, whose irresistible charm draws people in, and a man who begins to suspect the series of deaths surrounding her and digs into the truth. The drama stars Park Min Young, Wi Ha Joon, Kim Jung Hyun, Lee El, and Han Joon Woo. It is set to premiere on March 2 at 8:50 PM KST.
