DAY6's Dowoon faces intense criticism as past anniversary date rumors resurface online

Dowoon (real name Yoon Do Woon), a member of the band DAY6, has found himself at the center of attention once again due to renewed dating and marriage rumors with influencer Yu Ji Yu—the younger sister of “Ulzzang Era” star Yu Hye Ju—just a month after initially denying the relationship. This time, a past YouTube video has surfaced, seemingly contradicting his agency's previous clarification.

According to online communities on June 16, a past vlog video uploaded to Yu Ji Yu’s YouTube channel has rapidly gone viral, thrusting the two figures back into a heated dating controversy.

The source of the issue stems from the location featured in a vlog Yu Ji Yu posted approximately eight months ago. The venue where Yu Ji Yu was seen enjoying a meal was none other than the limited-edition event held at the Lotte Hotel's Chinese restaurant 'Toh Lim,' which was organized in collaboration with DAY6 to celebrate the band's 10th debut anniversary.

At the time, this collaboration course meal was priced anywhere from 70,000 KRW to as high as 180,000 KRW with the addition of Peking duck. Despite the hefty price tag, securing a reservation was notoriously difficult, leading dedicated fans to stay up all night engaged in fierce ticket-buying battles just to grab a canceled reservation for the meaningful space. In the video, the fandom name "My Day" is clearly written on Yu Ji Yu's table, and the windows are decorated with phrases like "DAY6," making it instantly recognizable as DAY6's 10th-anniversary commemorative venue.

Last month, the first wave of dating rumors erupted online based on numerous pieces of circumstantial evidence, including the spotting of a pet dog inside a vehicle, highly similar home interior designs and companion plants, matching couple keyrings, and identical smartphone stickers. At the time, his agency, JYP Entertainment, dismissed the rumors, stating they were "groundless" or that they had "no official position." However, with the discovery of this additional video suggesting a date at a meaningful fan event, fans are expressing a heightened sense of betrayal.

In particular, fans have reacted coldly, commenting, "They flat out denied it last month, but then they boldly enjoyed a date at a 10th-anniversary restaurant filled with memories for the fans, recorded it as a video, and deceived us." On the other hand, some netizens have urged caution against hasty assumptions, stating, "She might have simply visited the place with acquaintances," and "This is an overinterpretation."
