BTS’ V’s “Christmas Tree” surpasses 500 million streams on Spotify
by Alec06 · allkpopV of BTS has achieved another major milestone on Spotify as his song ‘Christmas Tree’ surpassed 500 million cumulative streams on May 18.
This marks V’s fifth song to exceed 500 million streams on Spotify, following Love Me Again, Winter Ahead, FRI(END)S, and Slow Dancing.
Released on December 24, 2021, ‘Christmas Tree’ quickly achieved remarkable success on global charts. The song became the first Korean drama OST to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, debuting at No. 79. It also topped Billboard’s Digital Song Sales and Holiday Digital Song Sales charts while reaching No. 55 on the Holiday Hot 100 chart.
The track also received praise from international media outlets and critics. U.S. media outlet Elite Daily included the song in its “24 Christmas Season Songs Released Since the 2000s” playlist, while U.K. outlet Edinburgh Live named it one of the most popular Christmas songs on Spotify. Billboard staff members additionally selected it as one of the “25 Best Christmas Songs of the 21st Century,” praising V’s warm vocal tone and emotional lyrics.
V is also the only K-pop artist to have topped Billboard’s Holiday Digital Song Sales chart with three different songs. Alongside Christmas Tree, both White Christmas and Winter Ahead reached No. 1 on the chart.
Despite being considered seasonal songs, V’s tracks continue to attract listeners year-round, demonstrating his enduring global streaming power.
