‘Zzanbro’ Issues Statement After TXT Teaser Sparks Sexual Harassment Controversy
by K-Soul · allkpopThe YouTube channel Zzanbro has issued a statement regarding the sexual harassment controversy involving TXT.
On May 4, the production team told Dispatch in a phone interview, “The teaser for the TXT episode was presented in a provocative way, which led to misunderstandings,” adding, “All problematic content has been removed from the full episode.”
They continued, “During the editing process, we try to cut out any parts that could cause discomfort as much as possible, but there were some elements we failed to filter out,” and added, “We will be more careful in production moving forward.”
The controversy arose from a teaser featuring members Soobin and Beomgyu. In the clip, Shin Dong Yeop said to Soobin, “I heard your nipples are gathered like my eyes?”
The situation escalated further when the teaser included a “let’s check right away” segment in which Shin Dong Yup appeared to measure the distance between Soobin’s nipples. Soobin responded by saying he felt “humiliated,” a moment that was later used in a comedic context, which many viewers criticized as inappropriate and outdated humor.
Shin Dong Yeop was also seen directly measuring the distance between parts of Soobin’s body. Co-host Jung Ho Cheol lifted his shirt, exposing his body, while Soobin responded, “This is humiliating.”
Following the teaser’s release, backlash quickly spread, with some fans issuing a statement saying they were “taking the matter very seriously” and even announcing a planned truck protest.
'Zzanbro' has previously faced multiple controversies over profanity, body-related jokes, and explicit remarks. Actor Kwon Sang Woo also drew criticism for past appearances involving profanity and references to kissing scenes.
More recently, the show was criticized for allegedly glamorizing drinking after news surfaced of actor Lee Jae Ryong’s third drunk driving offense. That episode was later set to private.
Criticism has also been directed at the show’s alcohol-centered format itself. While it allows guests to show a more candid side rarely seen otherwise, concerns remain about promoting excessive drinking and exposing minors to alcohol-related content.
In 2023, the government revised its “Media Drinking Scene Guidelines to Prevent the Spread of Drinking Culture.” However, there remains a lack of concrete regulations or enforcement measures to impose actual penalties.
