G-Dragon personally teases BIGBANG return

by · allkpop

G-Dragon has personally teased the resumption of activities for the group BIGBANG. This development, alongside the announcement of a solo return by former member T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun), has generated significant excitement among fans.

On the evening of January 10, the 40th Golden Disc Awards took place at the Taipei Dome in Taiwan. This event marked the first time the ceremony was held at this venue. Although G-Dragon, who was honored with the Digital Song of the Year (Daesang), was unable to attend in person, he appeared in a pre-recorded video message. During his speech, he expressed his gratitude, stating, "I am honored to receive the Digital Song of the Year as my first award of the year. I will return with the BIGBANG members this year."

These remarks have reignited discussions regarding the group's potential activities. Late last year, G-Dragon had previously hinted at plans to perform in the United States with members Taeyang and Daesung. As BIGBANG marks its 20th anniversary, industry speculation suggests the group could initiate a global tour starting with the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California this April.

Adding to the momentum, T.O.P has also formalized his return to the music scene. He recently confirmed his solo comeback on social media with the message, "A NEW ALBUM IS ON THE WAY," and teased a project titled 'ANOTHER DIMENSION'. This marks his first solo album in approximately 13 years since his 2013 digital single 'Doom Dada'. Having debuted with BIGBANG in 2006, T.O.P officially left the group in 2023 and recently returned to the spotlight through the Netflix series 'Squid Game 2'. In previous interviews, he described music as a lifeline and a responsibility to his fans. The simultaneous news of G-Dragon's group teaser and T.O.P's solo project has set high expectations for the K-pop landscape in 2026.
