TV Show reveals voice recordings about Kim Soo Hyun were fake

On June 14, the MBC TV show 'Straight' revealed the truth about the fake rumors surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae Ron. The show reported that YouTuber Kim Se Ui, who is currently in jail, knew the "evidence" he shared was fake. The police confirmed that the voice recordings of Kim Sae Ron were created using AI, and the chat messages were manipulated to look like she was talking to Kim Soo Hyun.

The show also revealed that the person who created the fake AI voice tried to blackmail Kim Soo Hyun's agency. The person asked for money and a free commercial in exchange for the files. This informant also approached other YouTube channels, asking for money for different versions of the fake voice recordings.

Because of these terrible rumors, Kim Soo Hyun lost almost 20 advertising contracts and acting jobs. His lawyer stated that the total financial damage to the actor and his company is estimated to be around 30 billion KRW.

YouTuber Kim Se Ui spread these false rumors last year, claiming Kim Soo Hyun dated the actress when she was a minor and pressured her about a debt, which led to her death. He was arrested late last month for spreading this fake news and faking evidence. The court recently denied his request to be released.
