Kim Go Eun and Lee Sang Yi’s friendship steals the spotlight at Blue Dragon Series Awards

Actors Kim Go Eun and Lee Sang Yi, longtime friends and classmates from the Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts), warmed fans’ hearts with their genuine friendship at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards.

The ceremony was held on July 31 KST at Paradise City in Incheon. Lee Sang Yi attended the event after earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his special appearance in the TVING series 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier'. He also surprised the audience by joining the celebratory performance of “My Flavor”, showing off his dance moves in a tuxedo.

As Lee Sang Yi danced on stage, cameras captured Kim Go Eun watching with an amused yet slightly awkward expression, drawing laughter from viewers online.

The most touching moment came later in the evening when Kim Go Eun was announced as the Daesang (Grand Prize) winner. Lee Sang Yi immediately stood up from his seat with a look of complete shock and joy, his eyes widening as he celebrated his longtime friend’s achievement.

Before taking the stage, Kim Go Eun received warm congratulations from her co-stars, including Park Ji Hyun from 'You and Everything Else' and Kim Jae Won from 'Yumi’s Cells 3'. Lee Sang Yi also shared a smile with her and warmly held her hand in celebration.

During her acceptance speech, Kim Go Eun reflected on her acting journey.

“I’ve never taken the opportunity to work on a project for granted. That’s why I’ve always tried to approach every role sincerely, desperately, and with a strong sense of responsibility.”

She continued, promising to keep challenging herself as an actress.

“I want to continue discovering new sides of myself as an actress and remain someone who sparks curiosity. I hope I’ll continue to receive opportunities, and I’ll work even harder.”

Born in 1991, Kim Go Eun and Lee Sang Yi entered the Korea National University of Arts’ School of Drama together in 2010, where they pursued their dreams of becoming actors. The pair previously shared stories from their university days on the 2024 web variety show 'Pinggyego', revealing the close friendship they have maintained over the years.
