IU celebrates debut anniversary with a generous donation.

IU (from EDAM Entertainment) marked her debut anniversary on September 18th KST with a charitable gesture. EDAM Entertainment announced that IU donated a total of 225 million KRW (approximately 170,000 USD) under the name “IUAENA,” which combines her stage name and her fan club “UAENA.” The donation was made to the Korea Association for Children with Rare Diseases, the “Milk Delivery Asking About the Elderly” campaign, Hansarang Village, and Hansarang Infant Home.

This annual tradition of giving on her debut anniversary is a way for IU to repay the love and support she receives from her fans. The donation will support children with rare diseases, provide milk and visits to elderly individuals living alone to prevent isolation, help replace aging elevators at facilities for people with severe disabilities, and improve facilities at the infant home, among other causes.

IU’s consistent charitable activities extend beyond her debut anniversary, with donations made during occasions such as Children’s Day and the year-end holidays. Earlier this year, she donated 200 million KRW (approximately 150,000 USD) on her birthday to various organizations, including those supporting children with hearing impairments.

In her message through EDAM Entertainment, IU expressed, “Thanks to UAENA, I’ve been able to cultivate a heart full of love and values. I’m happy to carry out meaningful acts in ‘IUAENA’s name every year. I hope this small gesture can be a special gift to those receiving it. Thank you to UAENA for always planting love in my heart. Let’s last a long time together.

IU will be holding her ‘2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT ENCORE: THE WINNING’ on September 21st and 22nd KST at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, becoming the first female artist to headline the venue following her previous concert at Jamsil Olympic Stadium in 2022.
