Seo In Guk and Park Ji Hyun bring workplace romance to life in new tvN drama 'See You at Work Tomorrow!'
by K-Soul · allkpopSeo In Guk and Park Ji Hyun are set to heat up the summer with a new office romance drama that captures the joys, struggles, and emotional highs of everyday working life.
tvN held an online press conference on June 15 for its upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama 'See You at Work Tomorrow!,' attended by Seo In Guk, Park Ji Hyun, Kang Mina, Choi Kyung Hoon, and director Jo Eun Sol.
Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, the series follows an office worker stuck in a period of burnout and their superior as they gradually become irreplaceable figures in each other's lives, rediscovering excitement in both work and love.
Director Jo revealed that she immediately connected with the script. She explained, “I was reading the script on my way home from work, and it made my heart flutter,” she said. “I thought it would be the perfect drama for office workers or parents who have finished raising their children to watch with a cold beer at the end of the day.”
She also highlighted how the adaptation differs from the original webtoon. She shared, “We focused more deeply on the process of ordinary coworkers building a relationship. The story becomes even stronger as it progresses, and that solid narrative is one of the drama’s biggest strengths.”
According to Jo, the drama’s greatest appeal lies in its relatability.
“So many things happen in a single day. Simply getting through that day is already a powerful story.”
She added that the drama combines realistic workplace experiences with a touch of fantasy through its male lead, creating an emotional journey filled with laughter, tears, and catharsis.
Seo In Guk plays Kang Si Woo, a manager in the DA Business Division of Saeum Electronics. A firm believer in efficiency and rules, Kang rarely smiles, keeps others at a distance, and rarely apologizes, earning him the nickname “3NO Man.”
Describing the character, Seo In Guk said, “He plans everything from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep. He’s so meticulous that I sometimes think he probably plans his dreams too.”
To prepare for the role, Seo In Guk explored hobbies that would suit Kang’s highly disciplined personality. He shared, “He’s someone who doesn’t even understand the joy of fried chicken and beer after work. I researched things like tea ceremonies and operating various machines to build the character.”
The actor also explained what drew him to the project. He shared, “Portraying natural emotions within everyday life is actually more challenging than acting in extreme situations. Kang Si Woo’s constant effort to control his desires was an interesting challenge for me as an actor.”
Director Jo praised Seo’s performance, saying, “It’s a difficult role because he has to create romantic tension through his eyes, voice, and presence alone. Looking back now, I can’t imagine anyone else playing Kang Si Woo. He truly became the character.”
Park Ji Hyun stars as Cha Ji Yoon, a senior employee in the same division. Trapped in the monotony of endless work, she experiences burnout, with her only source of happiness being a simple post-work meal of fried chicken and beer.
“Anyone who has experienced work and love will be able to relate to her,” Park Ji Hyun said. “What appealed to me most was her passion to keep moving forward despite failures and hardships.”
The actress also drew inspiration from real-life office workers.
“My older sister works at a Korean company, so I’ve heard many stories about office life. Many of the episodes in the script felt like situations that could genuinely happen in a workplace, which helped me connect with the character.”
Director Jo described the central romance as a mature love story. “It’s about two people slowly becoming part of each other’s lives. Their relationship is adult and emotionally mature. Even when facing crises, they continue to care for one another, and I think viewers will find that very heart-fluttering.”
The two stars have already come up with a nickname for their on-screen pairing. Seo joked that because both actors have fox-like features, they are often compared to different types of foxes.
“People already call me ‘Kang Fox,’” he laughed. “Please call us the ‘Fox Couple.’”
Meanwhile, Kang Mina plays Yoon Noah, a fellow employee whose life takes an unexpected turn, forcing her to reconsider her future and views on love. Choi Kyung Hoon appears as Jo Ga Eul, Ji Yoon’s college friend and first love, adding another layer of excitement to the story.
The cast also made a playful ratings promise, saying they would perform on Mnet’s M Countdown if the drama surpasses 10% viewership ratings.
The actors expressed their hope that the series would encourage hardworking viewers.
“We hope this becomes a drama that cheers on everyone who has to go to work tomorrow,” they said. “We want people to finish an episode and think, ‘Alright, I can do it—I’ll go to work tomorrow too.’”
Seo In Guk concluded, “I hope this becomes a healing drama that grows alongside its viewers. By the final episode, I hope people will walk away thinking, ‘I want to fall in love too.’”
'See You at Work Tomorrow!' premieres on June 22 at 8:50 PM KST on tvN.
