JYP Entertainment, home to artists including TWICE, DAY6, and Stray Kids, has announced strong legal action against malicious commenters and stalkers targeting its artists.

On May 20 KST, the agency uploaded an official notice titled “Legal Response Regarding the Protection of Artists’ Rights” through its official website and artists’ social media accounts.

JYP stated, “We are continuously monitoring and responding strictly to various illegal acts targeting our artists.” The company explained that it gathers evidence in real time through fan reports, internal monitoring systems, and specialized tracking systems for malicious content across domestic and overseas online communities, social media platforms, KakaoTalk open chats, Telegram, and other messaging services.

The agency emphasized that it is pursuing criminal complaints and civil lawsuits against those who create and distribute malicious content “without any settlement or leniency.”

JYP also revealed that several cases have already resulted in guilty verdicts. According to the statement, individuals accused of creating and spreading malicious content about artists through community platforms, messengers, social media, or the company’s ethics reporting service have been formally reported to authorities.

Some offenders have reportedly been found guilty under laws related to information and communications networks or sexual violence crimes, resulting in fines as well as mandatory sexual violence treatment programs and restrictions on employment involving children and adolescents.

The agency further stated that legal measures are also being pursued against overseas users and content posted on foreign online platforms.

JYP explained, “Through court-ordered evidence investigations and overseas court discovery requests, we are tracking down the identities of malicious content creators to the very end.” The company added that identified individuals are being held accountable for damages regardless of whether they reside in Korea or abroad.

The statement also stressed that using overseas platforms or hiding behind “freedom of expression” would no longer be tolerated as a means to justify illegal behavior.

In addition, JYP addressed stalking issues involving its artists, stating that stalking and severe invasions of privacy are also subject to strict legal action.

The agency revealed that courts have already approved temporary restraining orders against certain perpetrators and that additional criminal investigations tied to stalking activities are ongoing. Civil lawsuits for damages against stalkers are also currently underway, including against offenders residing overseas.
