Controversial streamer Johnny Somali gets beat up after twerking on 'comfort women' statue

Johnny Somali, a controversial streamer notorious for his provocative antics, has sparked outrage in South Korea following a series of disrespectful incidents. His behavior initially drew public attention when he was removed from a Seoul subway train by Korean authorities after playing inappropriate noises during a livestream.

Weeks later, Johnny escalated his behavior by livestreaming a series of highly offensive acts at the Statue of Peace in Itaewon. The bronze statue serves as a tribute to the "comfort women"—women, predominantly Korean, who were forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II. The monument is a symbol of their suffering and resilience, and its presence is a demand for recognition and apology from Japan.

During the livestream, Johnny was seen kissing, twerking, and performing suggestive dances around the statue, sparking widespread condemnation for his blatant disrespect towards a monument of deep historical significance.

Then on October 24, during a live stream, Johnny was confronted by a Korean citizen who recognized him from his previous controversial stream. The individual demanded an apology for Johnny's disrespectful actions. The confrontation quickly escalated, resulting in the citizen physically assaulting Johnny Somali and two of his friends. Things escalated further when Johnny Somali's Korean American friend Hank showed up with a weapon. Johnny Somali ran away after seeing what was unfolding.

Following the incident, many netizens have expressed support for the Korean citizen’s actions, calling for the deportation of Johnny Somali and his friends from the country.
