Big Bang’s Taeyang reveals Coachella shirtless moment was unplanned “I was actually shy”

Big Bang’s Taeyang shared behind-the-scenes stories from the group’s recent 'Coachella' performance, revealing that one of the most talked-about stage moments was not originally planned.

On May 12, YouTube channel TEO released a new episode of 'Salon Drip,' titled 'I Don’t Care Anymore! Bangchella Behind, New Song Behind, Meme Behind All Revealed,' featuring Taeyang as a guest.

During the interview, Taeyang reflected on Big Bang’s 'Coachella' stage and the pressure leading up to the performance. “It has already been a week since we performed at 'Coachella.' When we first received the invitation, I was very worried. We had been on a long hiatus, and 'Coachella' is such a global stage, so I kept wondering whether people would even know our songs,” he said.

Host Jang Do Yeon jokingly referred to the performance as “Bangchella,” to which Taeyang responded with a smile, saying, “That’s right. It really became Bangchella.” The comment drew laughter in the studio.

Taeyang also revealed that the members were extremely nervous before stepping on stage due to the scale of the event. “We were all quite tense before going on stage. I tried to ease the mood by joking around and even shouting ‘Coachella!’ toward the camera,” he said.

However, once on stage, his mindset shifted. “The bigger the stage is, the less nervous I tend to get. I just think, ‘I’ll just go for it.’ Being nervous doesn’t really change anything,” he explained.

The singer also spoke about his fancam videos circulating online, admitting that while he does not actively search for them, they often appear on his algorithm. “I don’t look them up, but they keep showing up, so I end up watching them,” he said.

Taeyang picked his solo “Ringa Linga” performance as his favorite fancam moment, revealing that his shirtless stage was not planned in advance. “It wasn’t originally planned. I just got caught up in the moment, and it ended up looking better than I expected,” he shared.

When asked whether he often performs shirtless, Taeyang responded honestly, “People might misunderstand, but I’m actually quite shy about showing skin.” He added that although his recent stage outfits included more revealing styles, it was not intentional.
