Kang Dong Won makes rare variety show appearance on 'Study Genius Hong Jin Kyung' ahead of new film 'Wild Thing' release

Actor Kang Dong Won is set to appear on the YouTube program 'Study Genius Hong Jin Kyung' for the first time, drawing attention for his rare variety show participation.

According to OSEN on May 7, Kang recently took part in a recording of 'Study Genius Hong Jin Kyung' where he met host Hong Jin Kyung. The episode also featured guests including Lee Ji Hye and Jang Young Ran, creating a lively and humorous atmosphere during filming. The episode is expected to be released in late May or early June.

'Study Genius Hong Jin Kyung' has been gaining attention for inviting top celebrities. Previously, actress Jun Ji Hyun appeared on YouTube for the first time in 28 years since her debut, and now Kang Dong Won is continuing the trend of high-profile guest appearances.

Kang Dong Won is known for focusing mainly on acting projects and rarely appearing on entertainment programs. His participation is therefore raising expectations about his chemistry with Hong Jin Kyung and other cast members.

Meanwhile, Kang is preparing for the release of his upcoming comedy film 'Wild Thing,' which marks one of his most dramatic transformations since his debut.

In the film, he plays Hyunwoo, the leader of a dance trio called Triangle, known for his striking visuals and strong stage presence. He reportedly trained for five months in breakdancing and headspins and performed most of the choreography himself without a stunt double.

Directed by Son Jae Gon and produced by About Film, the studio behind the 16.26 million viewer hit 'Extreme Job,' 'Wild Thing' tells the story of a once popular mixed gender dance group that disbanded after an unexpected incident and reunites 20 years later for a comeback attempt. The film is scheduled to be released on June 3.
