G-Dragon opens up about challenges creating 'POWER' after 7 years

After a 7-year and 4-month hiatus, G-Dragon returned with his solo single 'POWER' on October 31st, sparking excitement among fans. The iconic artist shared candid insights about his creative process and personal challenges during his appearance on the MBC FM4U radio show 'Kim Eana’s Starry Night' on November 18th.

When asked about the time it took to write the lyrics, G-Dragon revealed, "It took quite a while. I usually say I can finish quickly, but this time it didn’t come all at once. The melody came easily and matched the vibe of the song, but because the flow was unique, I had to ensure the lyrics carried meaning and a message, which took longer."

Lyricist Kim Eana praised his skills, saying, "From a writer’s perspective, the rhythm and wordplay in your songs are at the highest level. You’ve mastered playing with homophones and creating trends no one else could." G-Dragon humorously responded, "My pronunciation isn’t naturally clear, so even when I speak Korean, it can sound like a foreign language. I’ve used that as inspiration, turning Korean phrases into something that could be heard as Japanese or English."

Discussing the differences he felt during this comeback, G-Dragon admitted, "There were so many. Mentally, I felt the same, but I used to pick up choreography quickly. This time, I felt like I couldn’t keep up, wondering, ‘Why isn’t my body cooperating?’ It made me realize I need to stay physically active," he said with a laugh.

G-Dragon’s honest and relatable reflections have only deepened fans’ admiration for his artistry and resilience.
