ILLIT’s new song “NOT CUTE ANYMORE” is sweeping global short-form platforms.

According to YouTube US’s Daily Shorts Top Songs chart released on December 24 (KST), ILLIT’s first single album title track “NOT CUTE ANYMORE” ranked No. 2 on the December 22 chart. In a holiday season dominated by carols, the song is challenging perennial hits such as Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Wham!’s “Last Christmas” for the top spot.

“NOT CUTE ANYMORE” is also gaining momentum across multiple regions, ranking No. 2 in Canada, No. 3 in Australia and the UK, No. 4 in Germany, No. 7 in France, No. 10 in Mexico, and No. 11 in Japan. On the global Daily Shorts Top Songs chart—based on worldwide YouTube user data—the track debuted at No. 40 on December 18, then climbed to No. 17 on December 19, No. 13 on December 20, and No. 11 by December 22.

The song has already dominated the Korean short-form scene. After first reaching No. 1 on Korea’s Daily Shorts Top Songs chart on December 6, “NOT CUTE ANYMORE” has held the top position for more than two weeks, with only four days outside the No. 1 spot. The momentum expanded further with the release of the “Holiday Party ver.” remix on December 19, which also secured high rankings. On TikTok, videos using the original track and its Sped up version have surpassed 300,000 in total.

A viral trend dubbed the “hood drop shot challenge”—which uses an optical illusion that makes participants appear as if they’re hanging from a keyring—has spread rapidly among Gen Z users worldwide. Behind-the-scenes videos explaining the illusion are also circulating widely, suggesting the song’s popularity will continue.

This short-form success has translated into strong performance on major global music charts. “NOT CUTE ANYMORE” has entered the Billboard Global 200 and Global (Excl. U.S.) charts for three consecutive weeks as of the December 27 chart update. The song also reached No. 9 on World Digital Song Sales and has charted for three weeks on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global, demonstrating sustained longevity.

Meanwhile, ILLIT continues to headline year-end stages in Korea and Japan. The group will appear at 2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon on December 25, NTV’s Annual Music Awards on December 29, and TBS’s The 67th Japan Record Awards on December 30. On December 31, they will meet global fans at 2025 MBC Gayo Daejejeon and NHK’s The 76th Kohaku Uta Gassen.
