IVE Gaeul shared her philosophy on reading and her thoughts on participating in the “2026 Reading Korea” campaign.

Recently, Gaeul uploaded a video titled “Let’s read books together — a day full of my nervousness on book campaign day” on her YouTube channel Gaeul’s Temperature. The video featured behind-the-scenes moments and the on-site ceremony of the “2026 Reading Korea” declaration, where she attended as an official campaign partner.

During a mini book talk held at the event, Gaeul introduced her reading habits. She said, “I like spending time alone before going to bed,” adding, “Instead of looking at my phone, I try to read at least a few pages of a book before sleeping.”

Explaining the connection between reading and sleep, she said, “When you consume fast-paced content like on your phone, you lose track of time and end up going to bed late.” She added, “Books help me organize my thoughts and give me space to think for myself.”

She also shared her personal reading philosophy, saying, “Rather than following what others read, I think it’s important to read genres, passages, and books that I personally enjoy.”

She also spoke about her sense of responsibility. Gaeul said, “As an IVE member, I introduce various books through YouTube,” adding, “Many of our fans are young, so I’m happy that I can have a positive influence on them.”

In a pre-event video, she honestly revealed her nervousness. She admitted, “As an idol, this is my first time being invited to a campaign, so I feel a great sense of responsibility,” expressing both excitement and pressure.

Gaeul, who usually enjoys mystery novels and contemporary literature, mentioned George Orwell’s '1984' as one of her recent reads. She said, “I enjoyed 'Animal Farm,' so I’ve been exploring more of his works. These days, I often talk about books with IVE member Ahn Yujin.”

She also expressed disappointment about limited library access. Gaeul said, “Since my school days, I haven’t been able to visit libraries often,” adding, “I hope more libraries are built in the future.”

Finally, she left a message of encouragement about reading. She said, “I think everyone should read books in whatever way they like. That itself is healing.” She continued, “I hope many people find their own reading style.”

Currently, Gaeul continues to engage with fans through various content, including her book club, every Wednesday at 9 PM on her YouTube channel. Her sincere approach to treating reading not just as a hobby but as a daily routine has been warmly received by fans.
