Red Velvet member Seulgi will temporarily step away from YouTube content following the recent passing of her cousin, content creator Sookijin.

On June 14 KST, the production team behind Seulgi’s YouTube channel “Hi Seulgi” announced that the channel would take a two-week break from uploads.

“We will be taking a short hiatus on June 19 and June 26,” the team shared. “We kindly ask for your understanding and will return with new content in July.”

While no specific reason was mentioned in the announcement, the hiatus comes shortly after the sudden passing of Sookijin, who was widely known among fans as Seulgi’s cousin.

Earlier, a family member identifying herself as Sookijin’s cousin shared the heartbreaking news through the creator’s channel, revealing that she had passed away in a sudden accident on June 7.

The news shocked fans and followers, as Sookijin had remained active online until shortly before her passing. She had recently uploaded content featuring Seulgi and continued interacting with subscribers, making the loss even more unexpected for many.

Seulgi had previously shown her affection and support for her cousin on multiple occasions, and fans have since expressed their condolences and support for both families during this difficult time.

Messages of remembrance and tribute continue to pour in across social media, as fans honor Sookijin’s memory and offer encouragement to Seulgi as she takes time away from content activities.
