On March 25, Lee Hye Young posted photos and videos of her daily life with her dog on Instagram, along with the caption, “I had fun thanks to you.”
The video showed Lee spending time with her pet, but it quickly sparked controversy when viewers noticed drawings made with cosmetics on the dog’s face. A heart was drawn on its forehead, while eyeliner and eyelashes were sketched around its eyes.
Some netizens criticized the act, commenting, “Are you out of your mind?” and “Abuse isn’t just hitting or starving an animal,” raising allegations of animal cruelty. As the backlash intensified, Lee Hye Young deleted the post without offering any explanation.
On March 27, she quietly uploaded a new photo of her dog, now appearing clean with no traces of the drawings. However, criticism continued, with netizens questioning whether she intended to move on without an apology or clarification. Comments included, “A dog is not a toy,” “Stop animal abuse,” “This is upsetting,” and “It’s pitiful because it can’t speak.”
Meanwhile, Lee Hye Young married Roo'ra member Lee Sang Min in 2004, but the couple divorced in 2005. She later remarried a businessman one year her senior in 2011, and they have a daughter together.
