Red Velvet to make long-awaited full-group comeback this August
by Minsoo-Kim · allkpopRed Velvet is officially preparing for a long-awaited full-group comeback.
According to industry sources, the group is currently working on a new album with the goal of returning in August. The release will mark Red Velvet’s first full-group project in approximately two years and two months since the mini album 'Cosmic,' which celebrated the group’s 10th anniversary in June 2024.
The upcoming comeback is drawing particular attention as it will be the first full-group activity since members Wendy and Yeri departed from SM Entertainment and signed with new agencies. Despite their different management affiliations, the five members are once again joining forces for a new chapter as Red Velvet.
Over the past two years, each member has focused on individual activities across music, acting, radio, and television. Joy released her first solo mini album, 'From Joy, With Love,' while Wendy continued her solo career with her third mini album, 'Cerulean Verge.' Yeri expanded her acting portfolio through film and drama projects, while Irene recently released her first full-length solo album, 'Biggest Fan.'
Despite their busy schedules, the members have consistently shown their strong bond. They have frequently supported one another’s solo projects, attending music show recordings, concerts, and public events together, reassuring fans that the group’s chemistry remains intact.
Since debuting in 2014, Red Velvet has built a distinctive identity through its signature dual concepts—bright and energetic “Red,” sophisticated and elegant “Velvet,” and the unique blend of both styles. As anticipation builds for their return, fans around the world are eager to see what new music and concept the group will unveil in its first full-group comeback in over two years.
