Actress Go Hyun Jung personally addressed the rumors surrounding her dramatic weight loss and alleged extreme dieting.

On May 7, singer Kang Min Kyung met with Go Hyun Jung and shared the meeting on her YouTube channel. Kang Min Kyung uploaded the video titled “Training Go Hyun Jung,” sharing with fans the quality time she spent with Go Hyun Jung.

In the video, Go Hyun Jung candidly opened up about her current health condition. She shared, “I had stopped being such a sensitive person. But in 2020, I underwent a very major emergency surgery, and afterward it was more of a ‘let’s wait and see’ situation.”

She explained, “They had only stitched together the area connecting the duodenum and pancreas. There were also issues with my stomach, and everything was very complicated.

The actress continued, “After the surgery in 2020, I managed things by taking my medication properly, but in 2024, there were several incidents that caused me severe stress. That’s when I collapsed again.”

Recalling the frightening experience, Go Hyun Jung said hospitals at the time would not accept patients unless they required CPR-level emergency treatment.

I needed to go to the hospital, but the system had changed, and not just anyone could enter the emergency room,” she said. “I kept going from place to place until I couldn’t endure it anymore. They finally accepted me, and I survived after undergoing surgery around 12:20 or 12:30 AM.

She also spoke honestly about the visible changes fans have noticed in her appearance and energy levels.

In the past, people used to say I spoke slowly, but now many people think I seem weak,” she said. “The reason I look weak is that I genuinely have no energy. I used to love eating and cooking, but now food just doesn’t go down well.”

Go Hyun Jung revealed that even eating her favorite foods has become difficult.

I love kimbap so much, but even then I only eat two or three pieces,” she confessed. “I’m terrified something bad might happen if I eat. I hate the pain that comes after eating.

She added, “My doctor tells me to take my medication consistently and eat even when I don’t want to. I feel a bit depressed. There should be a healthy balance, shouldn’t there? Being skinny is only good to a certain extent, and you need strength, too. People always say that as you get older, you live off the energy you get from eating.”

Addressing the diet rumors directly, Go Hyun Jung firmly denied intentionally losing weight.

People think I’m on some extreme diet, but I never even dieted back when I was younger,” she said. “How could I possibly be dieting at a time when my health is fluctuating so seriously? That’s absolutely not true.”

She continued, “I’m consistently going to the hospital, taking medication, and working hard to recover quickly. I’ve also started strength training as part of managing my health.”

Meanwhile, Go Hyun Jung previously made headlines in 2024 after abruptly canceling her appearance at the production presentation for the 'Namib' just two hours before the event.

At the time, her agency stated, “Go Hyun Jung’s health was in poor condition, and she collapsed multiple times on set. She tried to endure it through sheer willpower, but ultimately had to visit the emergency room. Following medical advice that she could not continue with scheduled activities, we urgently decided that she would not attend the production presentation.”

Later, the actress shared photos of herself lying in a hospital bed looking noticeably thinner, writing, “I was sick to a shocking degree, but after safely completing major surgery, I finally came to my senses. I’ll be careful and take better care of myself.”
