Ji Suk Jin mourns the loss of his mother following earlier loss of father

Broadcaster Ji Suk Jin is mourning the passing of his mother.

According to a report by Hankook Ilbo on December 24, Ji Suk Jin’s mother passed away earlier that morning due to age-related causes. The sudden news has left Ji Suk Jin and his bereaved family in deep sorrow, and due to the circumstances, they have not yet been able to widely inform those around them.

The funeral wake has been set up at the Seoul Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall. The funeral procession is scheduled for 8 a.m. on December 26, with the burial site located at Eden Paradise in Icheon.

This loss comes seven years after Ji Suk Jin previously lost his father in 2018, adding to the heartbreak felt by many. The sad news comes shortly after Ji Suk Jin received the Grand Prize at the '3rd Pinggyego Awards,' held on December 21. At the time, he shared his heartfelt thoughts, saying, “I thought I wouldn’t be nervous, but I am. This is the first Grand Prize I’ve received in my life, and receiving it through the votes of the members makes it even more meaningful. I sincerely thank you once again.”

He continued, “Earlier, Yoo Jae Suk said that if you endure and keep going, a good day like this will eventually come. That truly resonates with me. It is an even greater honor to receive this award in front of such wonderful people,” before bowing in gratitude.

Meanwhile, Ji Suk Jin continues to remain active in the entertainment industry, appearing on a number of variety programs including SBS 'Running Man,' tvN 'Sixth Sense: City Tour 2,' Channel A 'Star Health Ranking No. 1,' and Wavve 'Seoksam Play.'
