RESCENE's Woni school bullying allegations appear resolved after former homeroom teacher speaks out

The school bullying allegations surrounding RESCENE member Woni have effectively come to an end.

On August 2, a netizen claiming to be Woni's homeroom teacher during her middle school years created an account on X (formerly Twitter) and refuted claims that Woni had been a bully.

The individual shared several pieces of supporting material, including a handwritten letter Woni had written in the past, graduation photos, pictures with classmates, and message exchanges with fellow teachers who had also taught Woni at the time.

The alleged homeroom teacher explained, "If Woni did anything wrong during her school years, then I take responsibility for not teaching her better. But I hope people will stop the indiscriminate criticism based on groundless claims." They continued, "Woni served as a student council officer for the entire school and was a very diligent student who actively fulfilled her responsibilities."

Recalling Woni as a student, the teacher said she was someone who often gave candy to teachers while telling them, "I love you," and described her as a diligent student who faithfully participated in student council activities, performance assessments, and various school events.

The teacher further explained that Woni served as a school-wide student council officer and even took part in the school's anti-bullying campaign. They also shared that, the day before graduation, Woni and her friends visited a cake workshop to make cakes by hand and presented them to their teachers as gifts.

The teacher added that they had been a strict educator early in their career, saying, "She was one of the students who respected me despite my strict guidance," and recalled their emotional farewell at graduation. "I vividly remember us hugging each other and crying as we said goodbye at graduation," they said.

The teacher also emphasized that Woni has remained close with her school friends even after graduation. The teacher explained, "The friends in those photos are still in regular contact today," and "most of them even went on a two-day, one-night trip together this February. Woni couldn't join because of her schedule."

Shortly after the teacher's testimony was posted, the original post accusing Woni of school bullying was deleted. As of 9 AM KST on August 3, the account that uploaded the allegations had also been removed.

After the situation appeared to settle, the former teacher shared one final message. The teacher wrote, "Everyone can make mistakes and unintentionally hurt others."

Quoting the Confucian saying "When three people walk together, there is always someone I can learn from," the teacher encouraged readers to "live a life where you can show love to both yourself and others."

The teacher concluded by thanking fans for their support, writing, "Thank you for cheering Woni on. Please continue to look kindly upon her and support her in the future," before closing the account.

The allegations first surfaced on August 1, when an anonymous post titled "Geoje City Exposure (I'm a classmate from the 11th middle school graduating class)" appeared on an online community, accusing Woni of problematic behavior during her school years and alleging that she had been part of a delinquent clique.

However, after the former homeroom teacher and several classmates posted detailed rebuttals denying the claims, the allegations were widely viewed as unfounded. The original accusation was eventually deleted.

The teacher had previously stated that they would delete the account once they believed the facts surrounding the allegations had been sufficiently clarified.

Meanwhile, Woni debuted as a member of RESCENE in 2024. The group has recently gained increasing attention following the viral resurgence of its debut song "LOVE ATTACK," the release of its remake single "Pretty Girl," and appearances in variety shows and YouTube content. The group's popularity has surged recently, with content from their YouTube channel attracting significant public attention and helping establish them as one of the industry's rising girl groups.
