'Possible Love' invited to the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival's Special Presentations section

Lee Chang Dong's Possible Love heads to the global stage with Toronto International Film Festival invitation

Director Lee Chang Dong's latest film has been officially invited to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

On July 20, Netflix announced, "'Possible Love' has been officially invited to the Special Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival."

The Toronto International Film Festival is North America's largest film festival and is widely regarded as one of the world's four major film festivals alongside the Venice International Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival.

The Special Presentations section showcases highly anticipated new works from internationally acclaimed directors and actors. Previous Korean films invited to the section include 'Parasite' (2019) and 'Decision to Leave' (2022).

'Possible Love' marks Lee Chang Dong's first feature film in approximately eight years since 'Burning' (2018). The story follows two married couples who come together for a documentary project, forcing them to confront their hidden desires. The film garnered attention for its star-studded cast including Sul Kyung Gu, Jeon Do Yeon, Cho Yeo Jeong, and Zo In Sung.

The festival praised the film, describing it as "a profound exploration of marriage, class, and cinema itself," adding that it "further proves Director Lee Chang Dong's remarkable reputation."

'Possible Love' will make its North American premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, which will take place from September 10 to 20.
