Seventeen’s Vernon and The8 launch new unit V8, announce debut album and concert tour

Seventeen members Vernon and The8, are set to launch a new unit, V8.

On May 28, PLEDIS Entertainment officially announced, “The8 and Vernon will form the new unit V8 and release their first album on June 29.”

The unit name “V8” combines Vernon’s “V” and The8’s “8,” while also symbolizing the duo’s powerful momentum and dynamic energy, inspired by an eight-cylinder engine.

Ahead of their official debut, the pair has been engaging fans through the ongoing 'V8 HUNT' challenge. The promotional campaign encourages fans to share photos of the letters “V8” discovered in everyday settings, further building anticipation for the unit’s upcoming activities.

Following the album release, V8 will embark on a concert tour beginning in July. The duo is scheduled to perform in Goyang, South Korea, on July 11 and 12, before continuing to Hong Kong for concerts on July 18 and 19.

Both artists have consistently demonstrated their musical versatility through solo and collaborative projects. The8 previously released the Chinese EP 'STARDUST' along with several solo tracks showcasing his unique artistic style.

Vernon has also established himself as a songwriter and producer, contributing not only to Seventeen’s albums but also to projects by artists including Bumzu and Drunken Tiger. He is currently a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association.

Last year, Vernon additionally joined the Recording Academy’s voting membership, granting him the opportunity to participate in the selection process for the 'Grammy Awards.'
