What to expect from 'The Practical Guide to Love' starring Han Ji Min and Park Sung Hoon
by K-Soul · allkpopJTBC’s upcoming weekend drama 'The Practical Guide to Love' is set to make its long-awaited debut.
The 12-episode series tells the story of a woman who decides to pursue love and goes on blind dates, meeting two men with very different charms. As she finds herself drawn to both and emotionally conflicted, she ultimately embarks on a journey to discover the true meaning of love. The drama is based on a popular webtoon of the same name and stars Han Ji Min, Park Sung Hoon, and Lee Ki Taek.
Han Ji Min plays Lee Ui Young, a senior member of the purchasing team at The Hills Hotel. While she is exceptionally competent and composed at work, she struggles when it comes to love. Realizing she can no longer postpone dating while focusing solely on her career, Lee Ui Young begins going on blind dates, launching a chaotic yet heartfelt romantic journey.
Park Sung Hoon portrays Song Tae Seop, the head of a woodworking studio. With a gentle demeanor and strong inner character, Song Tae Seop dreams of meeting someone he truly loves, building a family, and living a sincere life.
Lee Ki Taek takes on the role of Shin Ji Soo, a theater actor known for his free-spirited and spontaneous charm. Unbound by conventions, he lives according to his emotions in the moment. However, meeting someone who feels like destiny gradually brings about change in his life.
As anticipation builds for the tangled love triangle between the three characters, the actors themselves shared keywords describing their characters’ relationships.
Han Ji Min described Lee Ui Young’s relationship with Song Tae Seop, saying, “Song Tae Seop is someone who brings comfort in everyday life rather than through extreme or dynamic dates. He quietly listens when you open up to him,” she explained.
In contrast, Han Ji Min described Lee Ui Young’s relationship with Shin Ji Soo as filled with tension. “I would express their dynamic with the keyword ‘raw tension.’ His unpredictability makes him intriguingly compelling,” she said.
Park Sung Hoon chose “blind date” as the keyword connecting Song Tae Seop and Lee Ui Young. He explained, “Lee Ui Young is someone who has gone on many blind dates without placing much significance on them. However, her meeting with Song Tae Seop leaves her with a different kind of first impression. Please watch to see what kind of relationship they develop.”
Lee Ki Taek defined Shin Ji Soo and Lee Ui Young’s relationship as a “compass.” He explained, “They help each other find direction when they feel lost. Shin Ji Soo is inspired by Lee Ui Young to become a better man and pushes himself harder, while Lee Ui Young gains the courage to confront her true feelings thanks to him.”
Standing between the sharply contrasting Song Tae Seop and Shin Ji Soo, Lee Ui Young’s emotional journey and the unfolding story are expected to deliver excitement and romance to viewers this early spring.
'The Practical Guide to Love' premieres on February 28 at 10:40 PM on JTBC.
