Girls’ Generation’s Yuri opens up about the reality of three years of island life

A preview for next week’s episode of MBC’s 'I Live Alone' aired on July 3 KST, offering a glimpse into Yuri’s third year of living independently in Jeju.
The teaser begins with Yuri enjoying a quiet morning with a cup of coffee while taking in the view of Seongsan Ilchulbong, showcasing the peaceful atmosphere of her island lifestyle.
“Jeju was the first place where I truly experienced living independently,” Yuri shared. “I’ve been living alone here for three years.”
She also opened the doors to her cozy home, which is decorated with island-inspired interior pieces that reflect her personal style.
Despite the picturesque setting, Yuri admitted that reality can be very different.
“I thought it was all about romance,” she said. “But if you come here chasing only that, it’s not easy.”
The preview then revealed some of the challenges she faces, including picture frames lifting from the walls and mold caused by the island’s high humidity.
“You have to control the humidity in Jeju,” Yuri explained as she brought out a variety of dehumidifying products in her ongoing battle against moisture.
The situation became even more relatable when an unexpected bug appeared inside the house, causing Yuri to scream in surprise and drawing laughter from the studio.
After finishing her household chores, Yuri headed outdoors in search of food, introducing what she called her “secret spot.” The preview showed her harvesting seaweed directly from the ocean, offering another glimpse into her unique island lifestyle.
The full episode promises to showcase both the beauty and the realities of Yuri’s life in Jeju, giving fans a candid look beyond the island’s romantic image.
