When AR Rahman opened up on marriage
In a chat with Simi Garewal, AR Rahman once shared his views on marriage and how he came to find a partner in Saira Banu. He said that when he was 29, he was completely engrossed in music and had no time to go and search for a bride. But he knew that it was the right time to get married so he asked his mother to find him a bride. However, AR Rahman had his conditions. He said that his wife should have "loads of humility" and be "Someone who will not give me much trouble, inspire me." During the chat, he also revealed that initially Saira Banu used to get frustrated as being a star wife, she cannot go out or go shopping, but then she got used to it. He added that before marriage, he had told her what kind of life she would be leading if she gets married to him and there was an agreement. The ace singer did mention about balancing life and bonds after marriage. He said, "Marriage expanded my whole sensibilities of compassion and understanding, patience, many things which are then transformed into a larger perspective."
AR Rahman and Saira Banu's team shared a statement last evening announcing that they decided to part ways and it was an emotional decision to make. AR Rahman also made a post on social media stating that they hoped to reach the grand thirty together but that sadly could not happen. On entertainment news, it also went viral as netizens found it bizarre that the music maestro shared the post on divorce with a breakup hashtag.
