Actor who purposely failed MBBS exam to enter the entertainment industry

Yes, you guys must have guessed it. We are talking about Manoj Bajpayee. He is currently the most talked about celebrity in entertainment news. He has had a tough journey in the entertainment industry. He had his share of struggles and his parents were against his decision to pursue acting. His father wanted him to become a doctor and hence, he pushed him to take the MBBS exam.

Earlier, he appeared in Aap Ki Aadalat where he spoke about how he purposely gave wrong answers in his MBBS exam so that he fails. He said that he used to hide his face and mark whatever option comes so that he does not pass the MBBS exam.

He said that if the answers would have been right, he would have been a doctor. He wanted to come to Delhi to take admission into National School of Drama. His parents also wanted him to take up the UPSC exams but he faked those preparations as well. He did History honours from University of Delhi as admission in NSD required a graduation degree.

However, he was rejected in NSD thrice and he even went into depression. Later, he joined acting coach Barry John's workshop and learnt the skills before he came to Mumbai. He started living in a chawl and did many small roles. Later, he won the National award for his performance as Bhiku Mhatre in Satya in 1998.

He then won his second National award in 2004 for the film Pinjar when he was awarded the Special Jury Award. In 2020, won the National Award for Best Actor for Devashish Makhija's Bhosle. Now, in 2024, he has again won a National Award. This is his fourth National Award for Gulmohar.
