Breaking: Mithun Chakraborty gets Dadasaheb Phalke; Details coming in

The latest news coming in states that Mithun Chakraborty is going to be conferred with Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Mithun Chakraborty who is fondly known as Mithun Da is going to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the upcoming 70th National Film Awards ceremony. The ceremony is going to take place on October 8, 2024. The announcement was made by Information and Broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on his social media account. He wrote that Mithun Da has had a remarkable cinematic journey and he has been selected by the jury of Dadasaheb Phalke awards to felicitate him for his contribution to the Indian cinema. He also announced when the ace actor will receive the honour.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made a tweet congratulating Mithun Chakraborty over his Dadasaheb Phalke Award win. He also called the actor a 'cultural icon'.

Mithun Chakraborty also reacted to the news stating that he has no words to describe his feeling. He mentioned that he dedicates it to his family and fans.

He has been a part of the Indian film industry since 1976. He made his debut with Mrigayaa which was a period drama. He won the National Award for this one as Best Actor. Since then, there has been no looking back for him. Mithun Chakraborty has delivered some of the major hits like Disco Dancer, Kalankini Kankabati, Anyay Abichar, Agneepath and many more. In 1989, he made it to Limca Book of Records for being lead in 19 movies. He is also a recipient of Padma Bhushan, i.e., the third-highest civilian honour.

In recent times, Mithun Chakraborty has been a part of big films like The Villain, The Kashmir Files, The Tashkent Files, Golmaal and more.
