Actor known for villain roles, forced to leave Indian Army, later joined ED, shunted

A popular Malayalam star, who has worked in more than 300 movies has passed away today. He has worked with the Customs before joining the film industry.

This Malayalam actor was quite popular and has been a part of some incredible movies. He has worked in more than 300 movies in his career. The actor has played iconic villains in many of these big South Indian hits. Along with Malayalam movies, he has acted in Tamil and Telugu movies. Before becoming an actor, he gave competitive exams and passed with flying numbers. But an injury to his leg changed his life twice.

After finishing his education at the Government Arts College in Thiruvananthapuram, this Malayalam actor joined the Indian Army when he was 20. The actor was even enlisted for the same. Sadly, he had a leg injury while playing a sport, due to which his dream of becoming an armyman remain unfulfilled. But that didn't stop him for dreaming big. After passing the competitive exams, he joined the Customs department and even got a second rank in the sub-inspector exam for the Kerala Police. But he discontinued his work with the Customs and joined the Enforcement Directorate as an assistant enforcement officer (AEO).

The actor we are talking about is popular Malayalam star Mohan Raj, aka Keerikadan Jose. While working as the AEO, he made a decision to entering the film industry. The actor made his debut with the movie Moonnam Mura in the year 1988. Raj was in his mid-30s when his film journey started. He has worked in several popular movies like Narasimha Naidu, Raghavendra, Chandramukhi, Rowdy Inspector, Dharma, etc.

Mohan Raj had four brothers: Chandra, Sivaprasad, Jayakumar, and Premlal. He married to Usha and they have two daughters named Jaishma and Kaaviya. A few years ago, Mohan again injured his leg while doing a stunt on a Telugu film. The wound didn't heal much with time. The actor's last on-screen appearance was in 2022 with the movie Rorshach, which stars Mammootty in the lead role. Sadly, the actor passed away on Thursday at his house at the age of 70.
