Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan made his acting debut this year with the Netflix movie Maharaj. While the movie received mixed reviews, Junaid was praised for his performance. Based on the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, Junaid portrayed Karsandas Mulji in the Siddharth P Malhotra directorial. The movie also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari, and Shalini Pandey. In an interview, Junaid has now opened up about being a part of the movie and how the Aamir Khan connection helped him.

During an interaction with NDTV Yuva, Junaid Khan revealed that he had auditioned for another role in the past, before Maharaj. Junaid auditioned for Aamir Khan's role in Laal Singh Chaddha and the makers also loved his look test. The actor revealed that the movie was at a budget where they couldn't cast a newcomer in the lead role. Hence, he wasn't signed for the 2022 movie.

Further in this entertainment news, Junaid Khan admitted that if he wasn't Aamir Khan's son, he probably wouldn't have gotten Maharaj. The audience appreciated his honesty and applauded him for the answer. However, it was not a smooth debut for the supertar's son. The movie's release was delayed as a petition was filed against it by the members of the Vaishnavite Pustimargi sect at the Gujarat High Court. The community had concerns about the movie's representations of their religious beliefs. However, the stay was lifted on June 21, 2024, following which Maharaj was released on Netflix.
