In an interview with News18 Showsha, Shilpa recalled an incident from the early days of her career wherein was once asked to seduce a filmmaker under the guise of an audition. Yes, you read that right! She said that around 1998-99, the person told her, 'Aap yeh kapde pehno aur yeh scene karo'. She said that she did not wear those clothes and in the scene, he told her he was her boss and she had to seduce him. Shilpa said that she was quite innocent then and she did the scene. She also revealed that the person tried to force himself on her and she got scared.

She pushed him away and ran out. She also revealed that the security staff realised what had happened and asked her to leave immediately. Shilpa also recalled an encounter with the same producer years later and said that he was from the Hindi film industry. She agreed to do the scene because he was also an actor. She said that his children are probably a little younger than her and she will not name him as they will also suffer. She said that the person still does not remember her and offered her a role in the film.
