Rohit Shetty fans are rejoicing today as his much-awaited film Singham Again releases in theatres today. Shetty's last film was Sooryavanshi, which was released in theatres in 2021 and starred Akshay Kumar. With every movie, the director is expanding his cop universe. The filmmaker also has Golmaal franchise, which is widely loved. However, in 2013, he did a film called Chennai Express, which marked his first collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Chennai Express received mixed reviews from the audience as well as critics. However, over the years, fans have been enjoying the comedy action drama filled with romance. The dialogues and particular sequences often go viral on social media. But at that time, when Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan's collaboration was announced, not everyone reacted positively. Some even term their collab to be the "worst combination".

In an interview with Rediff in 2013, Rohit Shetty opened up about the negativity that was surrounded around his movie with Shah Rukh Khan. The Singham director said that there was so much speculation about him and SRK at that time. "When Chennai Express was about to start, they said, ‘Shah Rukh aur Rohit ka toh jamega hi nahi (they won’t get along!). It is the worst combination’, ‘Shah Rukh goes overboard when he does comedy; how will Rohit handle him?’ and ‘Arre, Rohit’s making a love story… what kind of a love story will he make?’," revealed the Khatron Ke Khiladi host.

Further in this entertainment news, Rohit Shetty stated that some people reacted based on what they thought the film would be. However, the reality was that only he knew what he was making. Along with SRK, Chennai Express also stars Deepika Padukone, Sathyaraj, and Nikitin Dheer. DP's character Meenamma has become a fan favourite over the years. The movie also paid tribute to Rajinikanth, aka Thalaivar, with the song Lungi Dance.
