Patkai Christian College celebrates Golden Jubilee
· Nagaland PageChumoukedima, November 2: Patkai Christian College (PCC) Autonomous commemorated its Golden Jubilee today.
The Golden Jubilee celebration opened with the unveiling of the Jubilee Monolith by Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, the Founder and Principal Emeritus of PCC.
Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Thepfüvilie Pierü, Principal of PCC, who warmly welcomed Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, the Principal Emeritus, members of the Board of Trustees, both past and present, alumni, well-wishers, faculty and students, and representatives from the media.
Rev. K. Losü, General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC), offered an opening prayer, invoking blessings for the institution’s continued success. A significant part of the program was a drama titled “Genesis of Patkai,” presented by PCC’s Drama Club. This skit depicted the inspiring journey of the college’s founder, Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, and his wife, late Margaret Shishak, whose dedication and vision laid the foundation of Patkai Christian College.
An alumna delivered a tribute to the late Margaret Shishak. She shared heartfelt memories of late Margaret.
The event featured a musical performance, “Worthy is the Lamb and Amen,” delivered by the Margaret Shishak School of Music Choir, led by Kevisekuo Sechü, the HOD of Music Department.
A significant part was the felicitation of Patkai Christian College’s principals, recognizing their contributions in shaping the institution.
Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, founder and principal from 28 August 1974 to 31 August 2004, was honored for his vision and dedication. The ceremony also recognized Rev. Judson Rungsung (1 September 2004 to 31 September 2009), Kolezo Chase (1 September 2009 to 31 March 2010), Hüsazü Epao (1 April 2010 to 31 March 2020), and the current principal, Dr. Thepfuvilie Pierü, who has served from 1 April 2020 to the present.
Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary of the NBCC, released the Jubilee Souvenir and delivered an inspiring message. “It is a very special experience to witness the founding principal and the three former principals still healthy and to witness the fruit of your hard work,” he stated.
Rev. Keyho reflected on the journey of PCC’s founders, Rev. Dr. Tuisem Shishak and the late Margaret Shishak, who transformed the wilderness into a learning center.
“Behind all those flashbacks, you must not forget the dedication of a couple to give a future. PCC is what it is today because God placed a vision in the hearts of Dr. Tuisem and his wife Margaret,” he said.
Dr. Keyho urged, “You are here in the first place to embrace the vision and second to teach, to mould. You must embrace the vision-light and truth. Jesus is the light and the truth. On these two pillars, Patkai has stood strong.” He concluded with a powerful call affirming, “Our celebration today must generate in us the commitment to live in truth. The truth must become our testimony.”
Alumni and current students participated actively, with the Alumni Choir presenting a moving performance of “Majesty and Glory of Your Name.”
Greetings from the Donors’ villages – Dr Kevingulie Khrofrom Seithekema and Razouvotuo Chatsu from Chümoukedima were conveyed on the occasion underscoring the college’s strong ties with the community. A special mention was also conveyed to the alumnus for contributing towards the development and progress of the college- “Alumni as forefront in the upliftment of college.”
During the celebration, a special mention was made of Seithekema and Chümoukedima, the generous donor of the 1,000 acres of land on which Patkai Christian College now stands.
The program was hosted by Thingri Sareo and Dr. Sentiyanger Longkumer, serving as Masters of Ceremony.
Angel Sonari, the former Vice Principal of PCC, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and participation of everyone who has contributed to the success of the event.
The event concluded with the College Anthem “Shine on O Patkai” and a closing prayer led by Rev. Zhabu Terhüja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
On the occasion, the Declaration of Jubilee Declaration was read out by Dr Sedevi Angami.
The Resolution “reaffirm and rededicate ourselves towards the fulfilment of the College’s vision and mission and to zealously pursue the goals and objectives of the College.”
It also “acknowledge with profound gratefulness the sacrifices made and the challenges overcome by the founder of the college, Reverend Dr. Tuisam A. Shishak and his wife, Lady Margaret Shishak, and all those people who joined hands and stood by them in establishing the college 50 years ago”.
It reaffirmed immense gratefulness to the two villages Seithekema and Chümoukedima for the generous donation of 1,000 acres of land for setting up of the college.
It announced the start of a corpus fund for awards to meritorious students annually and also provide financial support to needy students.
It also pledged to the construction of a new and appropriate academic building, which is to be named after the founder of the college, Reverend Dr. Tuisam A Shishak.
Each attendee received a tree sapling to plant, commemorating the Golden Jubilee both on campus and at their residences.
