CFD celebrates Silver Jubilee with faith and unity

Dimapur, September 28: The Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) celebrated its Silver Jubilee with an inspiring gathering, marked by worship, reflection, and a renewed commitment to its mission of promoting faith and unity on September 28 at Sumi Baptist Church Dimapur. The theme of the celebration, “Witnessing God’s Faithfulness,” captured the essence of the event, as attendees from various Christian denominations came together to honor the Forum’s journey over the past 25 years, around 300 representatives from different churches included clergy, pastors, believers, and community representatives.

The day began with a solemn invocation led by Rev. RP Murry, setting the spiritual tone for the day and reminding all present that the Forum’s success over the past quarter-century has been due to God’s guidance and grace.

In his welcome address, Rev. S Vitoshe Swu, Senior Pastor of Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church, extended a warm and gracious welcome to all in attendance. He highlighted the church’s joy in hosting the event and extended gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate this important milestone with the larger Christian community.

The Jubilee Choir from Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church uplifted the congregation with their soul-stirring performance of the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Their heartfelt singing not only reminded the congregation of God’s unwavering faithfulness to CFD but also served as a powerful expression of worship, elevating the atmosphere of the celebration.

In his address, Rev. Moses Murry, Chairman of CFD, walked the audience through the history of the Forum. He recalled its founding on January 27, 1999, in response to the tragic killing of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons.

Rev. L Bizo, the then Chairperson of the Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship, was instrumental in organizing the Christian community to respond with protest and prayer. Rev. Murry reflected on the Forum’s role in advocating for justice and peace over the years, particularly through efforts such as pushing for the enforcement of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act and providing aid during the Manipur conflict.

Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Kohima, was the main speaker for the occasion. Dr. Keyho, who was also one of the speakers at the Forum’s inception, delivered a powerful message on “Witnessing God’s Faithfulness.”

He emphasized CFD’s role in addressing various social and spiritual issues concerning the marginalized and voiceless in society.

Dr. Keyho urged the Christian community to remain united in Christ and to avoid divisions in the name of religion, warning that grace cannot be received if Christians fight in the name of Christ.

Prayers for different intentions were led by prominent leaders. Rev. Dr. Alem Sangtam offered a heartfelt prayer for the people of Nagaland, emphasizing the importance of spiritual and social progress. Rev. Dr. N. Paphino prayed for the renewal and revival of Nagaland, igniting hope for a fresh wave of spiritual awakening in the state. Rev. Dr. N. Tzüdir lifted up prayers for those in conflict, reminding the congregation of the importance of reconciliation and peace.

Rev. Fr. C. Chacko led a special prayer for the younger generation, highlighting the need to invest in their spiritual and moral upbringing. He emphasized the role of the Church in nurturing the future leaders of the community. Rev. Dr.keni prayed for the host church, expressing gratitude for their hospitality and involvement in the event.

A beautiful choreography performance by members of Bethesda A.G. Church further added to the celebratory atmosphere. Their graceful movements were an expression of worship and praise, and their performance was received with admiration and gratitude.

A special moment in the celebration was the presentation of mementos, arranged by the CFD Women’s Wing, who were commended for their dedication and hard work in making the Jubilee celebration memorable.

The offertory prayer was led by Rev. Dr. Weyiete Lohe, Chairman of the CBCC, who emphasized the importance of giving back to God in gratitude for His blessings.

In the vote of thanks, Rev. Dr. C. P. Anto, Secretary of CFD, expressed profound gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event monitory and material level. He extended special thanks to Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church for their generosity in hosting and sponsoring the Jubilee Feast, as well as to the numerous individuals and groups who played a role in the day’s activities. He also thanked the Servanthood theological college and AG church for their stupendous art performance.

The event concluded with a strong sense of unity and gratitude, as CFD members and attendees reflected on 25 years of God’s faithfulness and looked forward to continuing their mission of service, justice, and peace in the years to come. The Christian Forum Dimapur, having grown into a vital voice for the Christian community in Nagaland, remains committed to its founding principles of love, unity, and faith in action.
