Taylor Swift made a scene-stealing appearance at the 2026 Emmys — with a little help from her cat. The pop star joined host Mariska Hargitay in a prerecorded Law & Order: SVU-themed sketch that aired Monday, Sept. 14, before revealing she was cradling her Scottish Fold, Olivia Benson.

Arms crossed in front of a cork evidence board covered in red string, maps, and pop-culture clippings, a woman in a gray blazer plays detective during the 2026 Emmy Awards skit on NBC.

The skit centered on Hargitay investigating whether Swift would turn up at the ceremony. Swift played along as a fellow investigator, questioning the supposed clues before hinting that the answer might be “hiding in plain sight.” When Hargitay concluded that Swift wouldn’t attend, Swift countered that she might instead appear in “one of those cool pre-taped sketch things to support the host.”

A final Law & Order “dun-dun” set up the cat’s cameo — a fitting payoff, since Swift named Olivia after Hargitay’s longtime SVU character. Hargitay returned the tribute in 2023, naming her Siamese cat Karma after Swift’s song.

The two go back more than a decade. Hargitay appeared in Swift’s 2014 “Bad Blood” music video, joined her onstage during the 1989 tour in 2015 and attended the Eras Tour in 2024. They also sat courtside together during the 2026 NBA Finals, and Hargitay was among the guests at Swift’s July wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden.
