Garner, 54, wrapped an arm around Vartan, 57, for the selfie, which she tucked into a video montage marking 25 years of Alias. The two met on the ABC spy thriller and dated from mid-2003, after her separation from Scott Foley, until around August 2004, roughly a year before she married Ben Affleck. He wore a chambray button-down, a New York Mets cap and glasses; she kept it simple in a black pullover.

The reunion photo landed on her Instagram on September 30, alongside smiling selfies with castmates Victor Garber, Ron Rifkin and Merrin Dungey, plus creator J.J. Abrams.

“They were my whole world, the cast and crew, and they still are,” Garner says in the voiceover. “All these years later, we’ve been together. We’re a little band that’s gone together for the past 25 years.”

Alias ran for five seasons from 2001 to 2006 and gave Garner the role of CIA spy Sydney Bristow, which she credits with reshaping her. “No one had thought of me for action. No one had thought of me for a tough role,” she says. “I walked differently after I played Sydney.”

Vartan has largely stepped back from acting. His last film was the 2017 indie thriller Small Town Crime, and he was a series regular on E!’s The Arrangement from 2017 to 2018 before a guest spot on the CBS comedy God Friended Me.
