Selma Blair Recalled Biting Sienna Miller at the Chateau Marmont in her 2022 Memoir

Actress Selma Blair wrote in her memoir that she has bit people including Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, and Seth McFarlane.

Blair had just introduced herself to Sienna Miller when their meeting took an unusual turn: she bit Miller’s arm. In her 2022 memoir Mean Baby, Blair places the encounter at Los Angeles’s Chateau Marmont in 2006, the night after her divorce from Ahmet Zappa was finalized.

Blair recalls thinking she couldn’t “begrudge her for any part she was winning over me.” Her own behavior immediately alarmed her. “What have I gotten myself into? Or her? This is horrible behavior,” she remembers thinking.

In Blair’s account, Miller let out a scream of “Opa!” and asked, “You bit me, didn’t you? You really did?” Blair compares the exclamation to her own response when someone breaks a plate. She says Miller didn’t shame her and calls her “the belle of the ball” for the way she handled it.

Blair describes the encounter within a longer history of biting when social situations overwhelm her. She writes that her “system gets overwhelmed and instantaneously short-circuits” and describes social interactions as “cumbersome.”
