Salma Hayek Says She Tries Less Hard with Her Appearance Now That She’s Happily Married

Salma Hayek says being happily married has taken some pressure off her appearance: her husband, businessman François-Henri Pinault, gets a “Wow” moment when she decides to dress up.
“I don’t try too hard because I suffer when I do that. You try less hard once you’re happily married,” the 60-year-old actress said.
Her everyday style has changed, too. “It used to be jeans. Now I like flowy black silk pants. You can never go wrong with those, really low.”
That discomfort with beauty expectations also came up when Hayek discussed posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue at 58. She’d agreed to the shoot, then tried to withdraw because she worried she wouldn’t find bathing suits that fit.
Hayek described feeling “imposter syndrome” before the shoot. Growing up, she’d looked through the magazine to see its models without imagining she’d ever be on its cover herself.
“My body’s not necessarily the model type and I never thought that was a possibility. And for it to happen when I’m 58? It’s really shocking,” she said.
