Matthew Lowe, Rob Lowe’s eldest son, wed Emily Markus on Saturday, October 10, in Santa Barbara, 11 days after his 13-year-old cousin Fiona Hepler Lowe died. Gwyneth Paltrow, a friend of the Lowe family since she was a teenager, officiated the outdoor ceremony.
Chris Pratt opened the day with a prayer, then took a seat beside Chad Lowe, Fiona’s father, who was at the wedding with his wife, Kim Painter, and daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
It was the family’s first public appearance since Fiona died on September 29. The Los Angeles County medical examiner ruled her death a suicide.
Matthew, 33, an investor, and Markus got engaged over Fourth of July weekend in 2025, when he posted the proposal photos on Instagram with the caption “Lord of the rings.” Rob Lowe and his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, married in 1991 and also share son John Owen Lowe, 30, who sat front row with his parents.
The guest list ran deep: Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, Zoe Saldaña and husband Marco Perego-Saldaña, Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo, Katy Perry, Maria Shriver, Oliver Hudson, and Katherine Schwarzenegger with Patrick Schwarzenegger. Paltrow’s husband, Brad Falchuk, was there too.
