RHONY’s Sai De Silva Says She Decided to Divorce Her Husband When He Paid for Her Fancy Birthday Dinner with HER Credit Card

For Sai De Silva, the moment she knew her marriage was over came down to a restaurant bill.

The Real Housewives of New York City star says she realized she wanted to divorce David Craig after discovering he’d charged her birthday dinner to her own credit card. On Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, De Silva told her aunt Sufia that Craig had taken her to an expensive restaurant for a beautiful night out. Then she checked their bills.

“I said, ‘David! You made me pay for my own dinner? My own birthday dinner?” De Silva recalled. “And that’s when I knew… what’s left?”

She told Sufia there’d been “never any affection” in the marriage, and said she believed Craig liked the appearance of being her husband and having a family. She said she’d ideally wanted a divorce, but after what she described as an “aggressive” response from Craig, they agreed to separate instead.

The couple share two children, London, 14, and Rio, 8. De Silva said the marriage would’ve ended much earlier if they hadn’t had kids. Her conversation with Sufia was filmed before Craig filed for divorce in New York City on April 2, after nearly nine years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

On Tuesday’s Watch What Happens Live, De Silva said the two are still going through the divorce. She told Andy Cohen that Craig filing “without letting me know” was the moment she felt there was no going back, and said co-parenting has been “not great.”
