Kevin Bacon Shipped a Box of His Old ’90s Clothes to Ireland. Here’s Everywhere It Went Instead

Kevin Bacon shipped a box of old clothes from upstate New York on September 26 so he could travel light to Ireland, where the 68-year-old actor is shooting the Amazon MGM horror movie “Summoner.” The journey that box took is the whole story.
The box did not go to Ireland. By his own tracking, it went to Memphis, then France, then Germany, then Israel. It landed in Israel three times.
It bounced back to France, to Germany, to England, and finally reached Ireland on October 11, where it sat for five days marked unable to deliver. Bacon says he could not get a person on the phone.
He did not name the carrier, saying only that it “rhymes with Bread Ex.” FedEx later confirmed it was them.
On Friday, October 16, he posted an Instagram video filmed in front of a sunset, asking followers for help and ending with: “Am I ever going to see this stuff? It’s starting to get cold here.”
The clothes were not valuable. He said most of them date to the 1990s and he kept them for sentimental reasons: “old boots, old jeans, old hats.”
He could have just bought more. He didn’t want to.
FedEx delivered the package on the morning of Monday, October 19. In a reply on his video, the company wrote: “We got this wrong, and we’re sorry. Your package has now been delivered, but we know the experience wasn’t what it should have been.”
Bacon said the box “really traveled the world doing its best to try and find me.” People across Ireland had stopped him in restaurants, on trains, in a sauna, and on the street to say they were praying it would arrive, and he thanked them for it.
Then he filmed his first unboxing: a leather jacket, ’90s jeans, boots he was sad to lose, a black denim jacket he’s had “for about a thousand years,” and a Philadelphia Eagles hat.
A container of protein powder had burst and dusted everything. He said he was happy to have it back anyway.
