Tom Cruise can’t stop raving about Kate Middleton, and he made a point of telling her husband so. Asked about the Prince and Princess of Wales at an event after they joined him at the London premiere of his film “Digger” last week, the actor, 64, zeroed in on the “stunning” princess and the man who married her.

“William did well. Will, way to go. Smart choice,” Cruise said. “I’ve got to give it to William, smart choice.”

He called Kate “very funny,” with “a great sense of humour. Obviously very intelligent and fun,” and praised the purple Jenny Packham gown she wore to the Royal Film Performance charity event in London’s West End. “So elegant, that dress that she was wearing, it was stunning,” he said. Of the couple together: “They are amazing people. How dedicated they are to their country and what they give to the world. They’re just beautiful people, and fun!”

The praise fits a long run of appearances alongside the royals. Cruise had roles in the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and the Coronation Concert, and in May 2022 he offered Kate his hand on the stairs at the “Top Gun: Maverick” premiere, a breach of protocol that drew eyebrows from traditionalists.

He and William, fellow aviation enthusiasts, appeared together again in February 2024 at a gala for the London Air Ambulance Charity, where William thanked “my, our, fellow pilot, Tom Cruise” in his speech, then added a warning: “if you wouldn’t mind not borrowing either of the new helicopters for the next Mission: Impossible, it would be appreciated.”
