Selma Blair is back in the headlines after an alleged mid-air disturbance on a recent Delta flight into JFK—and the latest reports have put a renewed spotlight on a string of past incidents. The actress and multiple sclerosis advocate has had a complicated few years in the public eye, and the new allegations are a reminder of how health, fame, and personal history can collide in messy ways. Here’s a timeline of the star’s controversial behavior:

Early–mid 2000s:

In her 2022 memoir, Blair described biting people when feeling socially overwhelmed. The list of bite victims includes Seth MacFarlane, Sienna Miller, and Kate Moss.

June 2016:

On a Cancun-to-Los Angeles flight, Blair had a public meltdown—reportedly after mixing alcohol and medication—made alarming statements, and was removed on a stretcher upon landing.

2018:

Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis after years of undiagnosed or misattributed symptoms, and went public with the diagnosis. She has been open about living with the illness ever since, and her advocacy work has followed.

February 2024

Blair posted a since-deleted Instagram comment criticizing certain politicians and using language about “terrorist supporting goons” and Islam “destroying minds.” It was widely condemned as Islamophobic. She apologized, but has since said the fallout cost her representation, partnerships, and friendships.

October 11–12, 2026:

On a Delta flight from LA to New York, Blair was allegedly involved in a mid-air disturbance, with reports of her attempting to open a door, punching one flight attendant, and biting another. After landing at JFK she was arrested and charged with assault, allegedly kicking a police officer and a nurse. Her team cited a medical emergency tied to missed medication, a head injury, and MS-related confusion. She pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.

That medical context matters, especially for anyone who has followed her journey since the 2018 diagnosis. At the same time, the reported injuries to crew members and the charges she’s now facing are serious, and the case is ongoing.

It’s a strange and uncomfortable story to watch unfold in real time—part medical crisis, part celebrity scandal, and part reminder that chronic illness doesn’t always look the way people expect it to. Whether this is primarily a health issue, a pattern of behavior, or some combination of both is still being sorted out in the courts and in the public conversation.
