“I Think I’m Beautiful”: Lauren Jauregui Responds to Criticism of Her Weight

Lauren Jauregui addressed months of comments about her weight while attending the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27. The 30-year-old former Fifth Harmony singer told E! News, “I am a woman. I fluctuate like all women do.”

She said she’s reached a point where online criticism doesn’t affect her the way it once did. “I think I’m beautiful,” she said, adding that her sense of self comes from within rather than other people’s approval.

Jauregui also said she was recently diagnosed with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS). Symptoms can include weight gain, irregular periods and excess facial or body hair. “Not a lot of people like to talk about [it],” she said.

Her interview drew supportive comments after E! News posted the clip. Some commenters also objected to her use of “twig” when referring to slimmer people.
