Amanda Seyfried is Selling Her Last LA Home to Live on an Upstate New York Farm with Horses, Goats, Peacocks, and Ducks

Amanda Seyfried bought the three-bedroom, 1916 house in 2011 for $1.85 million from her “Jennifer’s Body” co-star Adam Brody, who’d picked it up from Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst. If it sells at asking, she’d clear roughly $1.35 million over what she paid.

The 2,738-square-foot place hides behind mature hedges and private gates on a 9,104-square-foot lot near Runyon Canyon. It has a pool and spa, a wraparound porch, a sunroom, landscaped gardens, and a detached garage converted into a gym.

The LA listing is the last piece of a move Seyfried started over a decade ago. She bought a 1930s farm in the Catskills in 2013 and has treated it as her primary home ever since, living there with husband Thomas Sadoski and their two kids alongside roughly 50 rescue animals, including a retired NYPD police horse named Herman. She’s said the rural setting helps with her anxiety and OCD, and has called Hollywood “tricky” with “a lot of personalities.”

She’s already been shedding East Coast real estate she doesn’t need, selling a Greenwich Village condo in 2022 for $3.4 million after buying it in 2010 for $1.9 million, while keeping an Upper West Side apartment.

Her exit predates the current wave of stars leaving Los Angeles for New York, Florida, Tennessee, and France, and she’s cited wellness and farm life rather than taxes or politics as the reason. But I can’t imagine her staying well in the cold harsh winter of upstate New York and imagine she’ll be traveling then.
