Benny Blanco, 38, isn’t being subtle about wanting kids. Asked on ‘Today with Jenna and Sheinelle’ whether he and Selena Gomez, 34, were ready to start a family, the producer didn’t hesitate: “Yeah. I’m pressing it. I’m full-court press over here.”

The comment lands about a year into their marriage — the couple wed in September 2025 — and it echoes something Gomez herself signaled earlier that month. In an Instagram Story, she shared a photo of herself holding a newborn and said she hoped to have a baby of her own one day.

She’d hinted at it before, too. A month after the wedding, Gomez marked her return as Alex Russo in the Disney+ series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place by writing, “Alex Russo is a mommy. Hopefully one day that’ll be me.”

Parenthood has clearly been on both their minds for a while. During a joint interview in March, Gomez told the Jay Shetty Podcast, “I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children.” She added, “I love making [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”

Blanco chimed in that Gomez gravitates toward kids and can talk with them for hours, connecting that ease to the years she spent growing up onscreen in Barney and Wizards of Waverly Place.

What Blanco’s “full-court press” leaves out is that the path won’t be simple. Gomez, who was diagnosed with lupus in 2015 and has bipolar disorder, previously told Vanity Fair that medical issues make carrying a pregnancy dangerous for her and a baby. She said she had to grieve that reality, but is now “in a much better place.”

She’s described surrogacy and adoption as “huge possibilities.” As she put it: “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
