Grace Brassel Answered Her Ex Shane Gillis’ SNL Joke About Women at the Gym Without Saying His Name

Grace Brassel didn’t need to say Shane Gillis’ name to answer him. A day after the comedian hosting “Saturday Night Live” called women at the gym dressed “like whores,” his ex reposted Dan Levy’s takedown of the joke to her Instagram Stories Tuesday, adding, “ANYWAYS… y’all need anything from the store?”
Then she let her own workout do the talking. She shared a gym selfie captioned “fitcheck!” and posted a video of her routine Wednesday with the line, “Fully body workout for my hoes.”
Roughly a year after making their relationship public in July 2024, Brassel and Gillis quietly went their separate ways.
Gillis, 38, drew the backlash during his monologue. “I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t realize women just dressed like whores now,” he said, before going after “the shorts, have you seen the shorts? Those neon, they’re like artificial bait color.”
Jenna Bush Hager, Kathy Griffin, Levy and several “SNL” alums all slammed the bit. “This perpetuates what is happening in our culture where people are commenting on women’s looks ad nauseam … and it’s not OK,” Bush Hager said on “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.”
Griffin told Page Six that Gillis belongs to a group of men from the “TikTok or podcast world” who “all look like they can’t get laid” and “tell these jokes about women that are from like 100 years ago.”
Cecily Strong answered the same way Brassel did, posting her own gym look: “On my way to Pilates in my new slutty ass orange shoes and rainbow socks,” she wrote. “Might sell sex on the way not sure.”
Gillis, who was added to “SNL” in 2019 before getting fired five days later, has yet to respond.
